Bayelsa Gov. Diri Pays An Unscheduled Visit To Bayelsa Queens
His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State today paid an unscheduled visit to the Bayelsa female football team, Bayelsa Queens at their Agudama-epie camp in Yenagoa.
Gov. Diri who was accompanied by his Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo and the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Hon. Daniel Igali appreciated the team for their very sterling performances and directed both teams be relocated to a better place.
"So I like to on behalf of your State Government, first of all congratulate you on your very sterling performances and urge you to continue. By the league table, you are number three (3) now, like your chairman said, you have an outstanding match that will catapult you to either 1st or 2nd, so what you should be aiming for is the first position in your group.
In Bayelsa, we are use to taking first, we don't know second, what we know is number one, so you will do number one for Bayelsa. So thank you for your very good performances.
This place has been like this for, ever since I was Commissioner till todayy, and I have directed, that you be relocated from this place, and the directive is not only for Bayelsa Queens, both Bayelsa United as well, they should be immediately be relocated.
And thereafter, Your Excellency, the Deputy Governor, we have to look for a permanent solution to accommodation, in other words, we have to from now think of setting up a permanent camp for both United and Queens.
For us, we are here to look at your condition and ensure that you are in a better state of mind before every match, as I said, Bayelsa Queens is a name in Nigeria that in female football everybody respect and you have to prove yourselves to be respected.
Football as you know is not limited to any state any country again, I am happy I saw some Cameroonian and Ghanaian nationals, you are welcome, you are Bayelsans, for as long as you remain here to ply your trade, what you know how to do best, you are part and parcel of Bayelsa."
