Commissioner Of Information Aniagwu, Cautions Against Frequent Postings In Command Schools
The awareness of the Nigerian Military High Command was drawn to the adverse effects that its frequent postings of Commandants may pose across its secondary education institutions.
This was resultant upon the posting of the 17th Commandant of Command Secondary School, Mbiri, (Ika North-East Local Government Area) since the school was established 17 years ago.
Having welcomed the new Commandant in Asaba, the Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, said that the frequency of postings in Command Schools posed a threat to effective policy formulation and implementation.
‘The change in the command structure of the school is too regular. If you have a school that was established in 2005, that school would have been 17 years by 2022. If in 17 years you have 17 Commandants, it means you have one Commandant for every year.
‘’That (frequent change) may not enable one to put in the much that he has… Imagine you being given one year, this means that your plans may be at the policy level before you are redeployed. Thus, the tendency that the next person may come in with new policies may also become a challenge.
‘’This is the reason why I would advise that the military High Command needs to adopt some form of sustainability.
This is because the school system is not just like every other posting…. It would have been better if someone is allowed to stay, be it a minimum of three years so that his policies will sink’’ he said.
Also, the Information Commissioner has commended the peace and security efforts of the military in the state, even as he pledged strategic media partnership in publicizing the activities of the military and its institutions in the state.
Recall, that the new Commandant of Command Secondary School, Mbiri, Major Hamza Usman, who assumed duty on February 15, 2022, hinted at the high demand from neighboring states to enroll their students in the school.
Major Usman also informed the Information Commissioner of their ongoing admission, and their inter-house sports competition scheduled for March 12, 2022.
