Gov. Diri Inaugurates Government Secondary School, Obogoro Bayelsa State
"We give God the glory for bringing us here yet to inaugurate another project, this time, educational. I came in here as Governor to inaugurate the primary school that was built by Hon. Oforji Oboku, and we found it very difficult to get in here, because erosion has taken away the primary school of this community, and so, our children has nowhere to go to school again.
As you all know, Obogoro is now part of the capital city of Yenagoa, and so, it is not only Obogoro indigenes, but all others who are living in this community are denied access to primary and secondary education, and there and then, I made the pronouncement for government to take over the construction of a brand new Secondary School for Obogoro community.
We all know the importance of education, and for us, it is education and education. So today, I'm happy, just as you are happy. Let me quickly add here that your Government has constructed additional five new schools in Yenagoa metropolis, including this one, and that is the only legacy that we can leave for our children, because, when you educate a man, a woman, you educate the society.
I hereby direct the Honourable Commissioner for education for additional construction of one more block of classroom and a science laboratory, and the request for perimeter fencing is also granted."
Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State speaking at the inauguration of Government Secondary School, Obogoro which had in attendance the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, Speaker of the State House of Assembly and other top government functionaries.
