Nigerian Soldier Working With ISWAP Terrorists Kills Self After Arrest

Nigerian soldier who was arrested for collaborating with ISWAP terrorists has killed himself while being escorted to the barracks. The soldier who belonged to one of the battalions of the Nigerian Army in the North-East was discovered by military intelligence operatives for his involvements in recent attacks on brothels and beer parlours, PRNigeria reports. "He was involved in recent attacks in Geidam and Gashua communities in Yobe State. "He was apprehended while attempting to escape after he learnt that his movements and activities with terrorists had been discovered by the intelligence service. "After being handcuffed, he skillfully snatched a gun from one of the escorts and killed himself. "Meanwhile, investigation is ongoing to nab other suspects within the service.

The governor announced this in a post last night on his verified social media handles. NLC serves notice of strike, in solidarity with ASUU, students

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has threatened to embark on a three-day nationwide warning strike, in solidarity with affiliate unions in the universities and Nigerian students. The union’s threat was conveyed in a communique jointly signed by its President, Mr Ayuba Wabba, and its General Secretary, Mr Emmanuel Ugboaja. The communique was released to newsmen, on Thursday in Abuja. It was issued at the end of the Congress’ Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting. The NLC on April 13, gave the Federal Government 21 days within which to set up a High-Powered Panel to resolve the issues that were causing incessant strikes by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and others. Federal Government Declares Monday, Tuesday As Public Holidays

The Nigerian Federal government has announced Monday, May 2 and Tuesday, May 3 as public holidays to commemorate the Workers’ Day and Eld-el-Fitr celebrations. This was declared openly by the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, according to a proclamation by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Shuaib Belgore. Aregbesola applauded workers for their hard work, diligence, and sacrifice, noting that their efforts are largely responsible for the reputation of the country. UNKNOWN Armed robbers attacked a bullion van belonging to a new generation bank along Owerri-Umuahia road on Thursday. A resident who witnessed the incident said the empty bullion van was attacked while returning to Owerri, Imo state capital. The sum of N44.2 million got missing on Wednesday at the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The development led to the abrupt end to the sale of forms, especially for the Senate and House of Representatives over the sudden disappearance of the N44.2 million. Two young men identified as Henry Agbo and Wisdom Ofri have been declared missing  after visiting a lady they met on Facebook in Calabar, the Cross River State capital. It was gathered that the young men, who are said to be employees of a logistics company located along the Murtala Mohammed Highway in Calabar, decided to visit the female Facebook friend after a series of chats at the Ekorinim 2 area of the city last Saturday.   According to reports, a friend of the missing young men, Uforo, while giving more insight into the development, said, “They have been chatting through Facebook messenger with the girl. 2023: APC Gives Amaechi, Ngige, Malami, Others 72 Hours To Resign

The ruling All Progressives Congress has issued a 72-hour ultimatum to cabinet ministers and other government appointees wishing to contest positions in the 2023 general elections to resign or forfeit their chances. APC, in its elections guidelines for primaries, gave all appointees till Saturday April 30 to relinquish their present appointment  if they intend to participate in its forthcoming round of the party’s primary elections. Terrorists release pictures of Captives from Kaduna Train Attack

Suspected Terrorists have allegedly released pictures of some kidnap victims who were abducted during the kaduna train attack incident last month. In the first photograph, which seems to have been taken with an Infinix Ai Camera, atleast 17 men could be identified. In the second photo, at least 18 women could be seen together with five children. This is the third time in four weeks, the terrorists will release pictures or videos of their captives. The kidnap victims have now spent at least 29 days in an unknown location with their captors despite repeated calls on the government and security agencies to secure their freedom. The latest pictures come barely a month after the government confirmed that at least eight people died, 26 other sustained injuries while an unspecified number of persons were abducted during the deadly attack.

The Delta State House of Assembly, on Tuesday approved a request by  Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa for a bridging finance facility of N150 billion in favour of the state government. The governor’s request  is contained in a letter which was read at  plenary of the assembly by the Speaker, Chief Sheriff Oborevwori in Asaba. Okowa said: the requested credit facility which has Zenith Bank PLC as the “lead arranger, would be principally tailored toward defraying arrears of unpaid certificates earned by contractors with respect to completion of some critical ongoing legacy projects awarded by past and present administrations in the state. 4 Children Electrocuted After Electric Cable Fell On Container Shop

   4 children, two of whom were siblings, have lost their lives, as an electric cable fell on a metal container shop they were playing in Ile Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area of Osun State. Two of the deceased children were siblings, who visited their aunt for the just-concluded Easter holiday in the community. According to an eyewitness, six children were playing in the container when the electric cable fell on it. While four of the victims gave up the ghost as there was no sufficient oxygen at the hospital they were rushed to, the eyewitness stated that the two others survived. “The electric cable fell on the container. Soludo Leads Ongoing Clean Up Of Okpoko, Onitsha And Environs.
