Soludo Leads Ongoing Clean Up Of Okpoko, Onitsha And Environs.
In pursuit of a greener and healthier state, Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has flagged off desilting of drainage systems in Onitsha.
The exercise according to the governor will last till Monday, 4th April, 2022. The Governor after flagging off the project also promised to monitor the three day waste evacuation and drainage desilting exercise in four local government areas.
The exercise is ongoing in Onitsha North And South, Ogbaru and Idemili North Local Government Areas.
The Governor who is in charge of the waste evacuation and drainage desilting exercise in the four Local Government Areas, commenced the monitoring exercise from Obiano Park, Upper Iweka axis of Onitsha South, through Fegge, Ochanja market, and Ochanja roundabout.
At the scene of the exercise, excavators were seen evacuating wastes from drainages, and dumping places around the vicinities, loading same in tippers for immediate dumping at dump sites already provided by the state government.
Workers and residents of the areas were also seen clearing and helping to ensure that the vision of Professor Chukwuma Soludo led administration towards enthroning a clean and healthy state is achieved in the areas.
Environmental health officers, officials of Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade, major stakeholders in the areas, including the Member Representing Onitsha North Constituency Two, Honourable Edward Ibuzor were present to ensure a successful sanitation exercise.
The Governor, Professor Soludo will still visit other parts of the four Local Government Areas involved, to ensure that work is going on as planned.
