20-year-old wife arrested for st@bbing her 'drunk' husband, 38, to d€ath in Adamawa



The Adamawa State Police Command on Friday, July 22, apprehended a 20year old housewife, for st@bbing her 38 years old husband to d€ath.

According to DSP Suleiman Nguroje, spokesperson of the state pilice,  the suspect identified as Caroline Barka, a resident of Angwan Tamiya, Madagali local government Area, engaged her late husband, Barka Dauda, in a fight following an argument that ensued between them after the deceased return home drunk and fell on their one year old Baby who was in bed.

''Angered by his drunkenness, habitual late nights  and failure to provide basic  necessity as a Husband, the Suspect and the deceased engaged themselves in a fight which resulted to her st@bbing the Husband, as a result he fell down unconscious and was later rushed to the Hospital where he was confirmed d€ad.''the statement in part read

Nguroje added that the suspect was apprehended by the Police in Madagali Local Government following report received from a relative of the deceased.

He mentioned that the state Commissioner of Police, CP S K Akande, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Investigation) to take over the case and ensure that the Suspect is prosecuted accordingly.

Okowa deplores poor services by BEDC

Delta Governor and Vice-Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has deplored poor supply of electricity to the consumers in the state by Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC).  Okowa expressed his displeasure over the situation at the official opening of Lumen Christi College, Maryhill, Owanta, Ika North East Local Santament Area of the State on Thursday.  He said that even when residents and communities procured transformers and handed over to BEDC, "they will still them l charge them to energise it".  According to the energizer, sometimes you install a transformer, and the distribution company will ask you to come and pay even when you are handing over that transformer to them.  He regretted that "even when you are ready to pay, they will delay you for six months and even for one year.
