Fake military officer arrested in Adamawa




The Operatives of the Adamawa state Police Command attached to Girei Divisional police headquarters on July 17 while on an intensive surveillance patrol apprehended a 22-year-old man, parading himself as a military man, threatening and extorting members of the public.

When interrogated, the suspect who gave his name as Paul Shaltha, a resident of Sabon gari ward Girei local government area, confessed to having paraded himself as a military man sometimes last month, threatened and extorted one Michael Stephen a Keke Napep operator for alleged traffic rule violation.

The commissioner of police CP SK Akande who talked tough on the impersonators; however, directed State Criminal investigation Department (SCID), CP's Monitoring unit , Public Complain Bureau (PCB)  to  go after people of such questionable characters and checkmate the criminal activities been master minded by these hooligans 

The police boss has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police ( CID) to immediately take over the investigation and ensure the prosecution of the suspect to serve as a deterrent to others from doing likewise.

BREAKING NEWS: HOUSE OF REPS CONCURS WITH SENATE ON OMO-AGEGE ANTI-SEXUAL HARASSMENT BILL

The House of Representatives has, by way of concurrence with the Senate, passed the Senator Ovie Omo-Agege ‘Bill for an Act to make Comprehensive Provisions for the Prohibition and Punishment of Sexual Harassment of Students by Educators in Tertiary Educational Institutions’. The House passed the Bill in its Committee of the Whole on Tuesday, February 8, 2022.  This is a major development in the principled quest for a stringent national law to properly deal with the inhuman scourge of sexual harassment in our academic campuses.  With this development, the Bill will now be transmitted to President Muhammadu Buhari for his assent. Okowa deplores poor services by BEDC

Delta Governor and Vice-Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has deplored poor supply of electricity to the consumers in the state by Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC).  Okowa expressed his displeasure over the situation at the official opening of Lumen Christi College, Maryhill, Owanta, Ika North East Local Santament Area of the State on Thursday.  He said that even when residents and communities procured transformers and handed over to BEDC, "they will still them l charge them to energise it".  According to the energizer, sometimes you install a transformer, and the distribution company will ask you to come and pay even when you are handing over that transformer to them.  He regretted that "even when you are ready to pay, they will delay you for six months and even for one year.
