Federal Government Needs To Regulate Birth Rate in Nigeria To Achieve Sustainable Development.


The federal government has said that there is a need to regulate the birth rate in the country to achieve sustainable development.

The Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, disclosed this at the celebration of World Population Day, organized by the National Population Commission (NPC).

Ehanire who was represented by Director, of Family Health, Salma Ibrahim Anas, said it would be difficult for Nigeria to achieve its Sustainable Development Goals with the current 5.3 fertility average in the country.

He said; 

“We must regulate fertility, without fertility regulation, we’re going nowhere. This is the key to unlocking the success of sustainable development in Nigeria and the Ministry of Health has positioned itself to fulfill this purpose.”

The Edo State Governor,Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, has addressed the rising issues of young boys engaging in internet fraud, popularly known as yahoo yahoo in Nigeria. The governor opined that these young people who are engaging in all sorts of illegitimate means to make money must be brilliant, he also urged that efforts must be made to redirect their thinking for positive and legitimate use.  Speaking at an education town hall meeting in the state on Friday, February 19, Governor Obaseki said “I am concerned. POLICE ARREST SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS/RECOVERY OF 1 ENGLISH PISTOL

An intelligence investigation has led to the arrest of the prime suspect, Iyegbunuwe Oluchukwu ‘m’ of Issele-Uku.  The suspect led the detectives to their hideout at Onicha-Ugbo in Aniocha North LGA, where two other suspects, one Okwudili Ozah ‘m’ and Esther Nwoko ‘f’, were arrested and One (1) English revolver pistol, fifteen (15) rounds of live ammunition, and six (6) expended ammunition were recovered. Suspects allegedly stole the motorcycle at gunpoint and it’s suspected to be in the possession of one of their accomplices Chidinma Nwoko ‘m’, the husband of Esther Nwoko. The effort is on to arrest the other members of the gang.
