Okowa To Commission Ellu, Ovrode, Ofagbe, Orie, Okpe-Isoko, Uro to Ada-Irri Road in Isoko North and Isoko South LGA in December 2022.






Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has stated that the 24-kilometer Isoko Ring Road project running from Ellu, Ovrode, Ofagbe, Orie, Okpe-Isoko, Uro to Ada-Irri in Isoko North and Isoko South LGA will be completed in December 2022.

Governor Okowa disclosed this to newsmen shortly after inspecting construction of the bridge linking Ellu and Ofagbe on the road.

The Governor explained that the project was divided into three sections for ease of execution, adding that the bridge being constructed was to address the perennial problem of flooding on the existing bridge on the road which was usually flooded whenever it rained heavily.

Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has deplored poor supply of electricity to the consumers in the state by Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC).  Okowa expressed his displeasure over the situation at the official opening of Lumen Christi College, Maryhill, Owanta, Ika North East Local Santament Area of the State on Thursday.  He said that even when residents and communities procured transformers and handed over to BEDC, "they will still them l charge them to energise it".  According to the energizer, sometimes you install a transformer, and the distribution company will ask you to come and pay even when you are handing over that transformer to them.  He regretted that "even when you are ready to pay, they will delay you for six months and even for one year. BREAKING NEWS : Ovrode Community Shuts Down Ughelli/Asaba Express Way

The Residents of Ovrode Community in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, has shutdown Ughelli/Asaba expressway in a renewed protest over negligence of the community by State and Federal Governments.   The protesters comprise of men, women and youths besieged the Ughelli/Asaba expressway for hours with placards bearing various inscription such as, “Ovrode is bleeding, “No Federal and State Government projects in Ovrode Community”, “Our Grammar school is in a bad shape, no teachers and  no chairs”, “No Constituency projects in Ovrode Community,” “Oil exploration in our community since 1963 till date , nothing to show for it”, among others.  Addressing newsmen at the scene of the protest,  the President General of Ovrode Community,  Mr Felix Efedhoma said,  both State and Federal Government has abandoned Ovrode Community despite being an Oil producing Community since 1963 till date. BREAKING NEWS: HOUSE OF REPS CONCURS WITH SENATE ON OMO-AGEGE ANTI-SEXUAL HARASSMENT BILL

The House of Representatives has, by way of concurrence with the Senate, passed the Senator Ovie Omo-Agege ‘Bill for an Act to make Comprehensive Provisions for the Prohibition and Punishment of Sexual Harassment of Students by Educators in Tertiary Educational Institutions’. The House passed the Bill in its Committee of the Whole on Tuesday, February 8, 2022.  This is a major development in the principled quest for a stringent national law to properly deal with the inhuman scourge of sexual harassment in our academic campuses.  With this development, the Bill will now be transmitted to President Muhammadu Buhari for his assent.
