Court sentence Uduak Akpan to death by hanging for murder of Iniubong Umoren


Justice Bassey Nkanang of di Akwa Ibom State High Court don sentence Uduak Akpan to death by hanging for di murder of late Iniubong Umoren.

Umoren, be graduate of Philosophy, University of Uyo wen Uduak kill am as she dey on a job hunt for April 2021 as she dey wait for NYSC mobilization.

Di trial judge, Justice Bassey Nkanang bin fix di judgment date afta di Prosecution and di Defence Counsel adopt dia final written addresses.

Di three pesins wey stand trial for di murder case na Uduak-Abasi Akpan, di first accused pesin, Frank Akpan and Anwan-Bassey Akpan di second and third accused pesins.

Court however discharge and acquit Frank Akpan and Anwan-Bassey Akpan di second and third accused pesins.

Uduak-Abasi Akpan wey invite her for a job interview stand trial on two count charge of rape and murder.

Di second accused pesin Frank Akpan wey be im father bin dey charged with accessory afta di fact to murder and di third accused Anwan-Bassey Akpan, Uduak Akpan sister bin dey charged with harbouring her brother for her residence in Calabar in a bid to assist am to escape justice.

BREAKING NEWS : Ovrode Community Shuts Down Ughelli/Asaba Express Way

The Residents of Ovrode Community in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, has shutdown Ughelli/Asaba expressway in a renewed protest over negligence of the community by State and Federal Governments.   The protesters comprise of men, women and youths besieged the Ughelli/Asaba expressway for hours with placards bearing various inscription such as, “Ovrode is bleeding, “No Federal and State Government projects in Ovrode Community”, “Our Grammar school is in a bad shape, no teachers and  no chairs”, “No Constituency projects in Ovrode Community,” “Oil exploration in our community since 1963 till date , nothing to show for it”, among others.  Addressing newsmen at the scene of the protest,  the President General of Ovrode Community,  Mr Felix Efedhoma said,  both State and Federal Government has abandoned Ovrode Community despite being an Oil producing Community since 1963 till date. BREAKING NEWS: HOUSE OF REPS CONCURS WITH SENATE ON OMO-AGEGE ANTI-SEXUAL HARASSMENT BILL

The House of Representatives has, by way of concurrence with the Senate, passed the Senator Ovie Omo-Agege ‘Bill for an Act to make Comprehensive Provisions for the Prohibition and Punishment of Sexual Harassment of Students by Educators in Tertiary Educational Institutions’. The House passed the Bill in its Committee of the Whole on Tuesday, February 8, 2022.  This is a major development in the principled quest for a stringent national law to properly deal with the inhuman scourge of sexual harassment in our academic campuses.  With this development, the Bill will now be transmitted to President Muhammadu Buhari for his assent.
